Inclusive School Lunch

The School Lunch Program is a culturally rooted school meal initiative designed especially for African and Caribbean children in elementary schools. We proudly serve nutritious, culturally relevant meals that reflect the rich culinary traditions of the Black diaspora providing more than just food, but a sense of belonging and identity.


Why School Lunch?

Because food is more than just nutrition — it’s identity, connection, and belonging.

For many African and Caribbean children, school can feel like a space where their culture is often missing—especially at lunchtime. The School Lunch Program exists to change that.

We believe that when children see their culture reflected in the food they eat, it:

  • Builds confidence and pride in their heritage
  • Eases integration for new immigrant students navigating a new school system
  • Supports focus and learning through nutritious, familiar meal

What We’re Doing Differently:

  • Serving hot, healthy meals made with love and cultural authenticity
  • Using ingredients that are both nutritious and familiar — like rice and peas, plantains, okra stew, and jerk chicken
  • Offering a safe and inclusive space where every child feels seen and fed

From Farm to Classroom

Growing Culture. Feeding Minds.


Our From Farm to Classroom initiative connects children to their roots—literally. Through this program, we plant and harvest organic African and Caribbean crops such as okra (okro), ewedu (jute leaves), callaloo, and more, right here in our community gardens and partner farms.
